Opportunity and Pressure for Internet Marketers

by Scott Thomas on October 10, 2008

I just finished attending the Alaska Travel Industry Association’s annual convention. Given that the 2008 summer season was flat for most tour operators, there is growing anxiety about the 2009 season. I heard several businesses state that it was time to invest more in marketing to remain competitive.

For marketers, and Internet marketers in particular, tough economic times may serve as a unique opportunity to try new marketing initiatives and gain more clients. One the other hand, aggressive marketing strategies may not produce the hoped-for results for the client in these uncertain economic times. It could be stressful for everyone involved if increased spending on Internet marketing does not produce.

It will certainly be interesting over the winter to see how things shake out.
